Powahh!

19 posts in this topic

Right lads, the new year is here so it's time to start building a hit list for stage two of making Darth 420bhp

So far I have:

ACL bearings

Manly Rods

Omega RCM pistons

Cosworth Ultra head bolts

Cosworth Head Gasket

Cosworth TGV delete kit

RCM Air pump delete kit

RCM High flow / pressure oil pump

RCM oil plate

Exedy Pink Clutch

Samco hoses

Brand new STI inlet manifold

Colder thermostat

Uprated NGK spark plugs (1 stage colder I think)

Buddyclub 1.3 and 1.5 bar coolant caps

HKS timing belt

What do I still need to break the 420 barrier? I was thinking...

Injectors

Turbo

Fuel Pump

Air Filter

Open-mouth down pipe

Re-map

* I still need to sort the sump out too

Have I missed anything and does anyone have any opinions on what to go for? Prices would be handy too :good:

You won't need a fuel pump, but you'd need a better intercooler be it a front or uprated top mount, the standard one will struggle after 400 bhp

+1

Ross your list looks awesome mate!

But as Mark says, you'll possibly need an uprated intercooler. Chevron do a rather nice Formula 1 inspired/tech top mount. This will keep the OE look & keep that dreaded LAG at bay!!

With the right turbo, you'll easily see 420hp so the map will be very safe & well within tolerance.

A DE-CAT or sports CAT will be needed. Is the Exedy clutch rated to this power? Not so much BHP but the torque at this level will be the killer. Maybe an AP or ACT would be better!!

Not sure if the OE air intake, even with an uprated element would be up to the job...

Looking forward to eyeing the end result mate :good:

+2 that's a nice little list ;-) in this modding game there's always something that's maxing out as above it will be the TMIC you might get just get over the 400 mark but you'll sit down just like I did & realise you have all the mods for a very powerful car & just go for it!! Lol

Thanks lads. Apparently everything I've fitted so far will be safe for 600, not that I'll ever go that high!

I really didn't want to change the intercooler but having seen Robs chevron one it is nice

if your still on a std factory pump, personally you will require a better fuel pump.......

I am and have been advised to go bigger at the same time as the injectors to get the most put of them.

Just need to decide on what one now

Yeah no problem. It's under the back seat somewhere isn't it?

I've only ever changed the fuel pump in the Defender and I had to take the whole tank off to get at it
